Frequently asked questions:

Q. How much does it cost?

It depends on the extent of the project. Project fees are based on assessment of the project, usually by emailed images and discussion of condition. Project fees are in addition to shipping charges incurred (to and from US zip code 11106).

Q. Are you a taxidermist?

No. Taxidermy Restoration specializes in fixing old or damaged specimens, and does not do any initial mounting of skins, etc.

Q. Can you restore my full-size zebra ( or gazelle, muskox, etc.)?

Site visits are possible to arrange, especially in the New York City area. Most jobs are shipped through UPS or USPS and can fit through a standard door.

Q. What about smoke damage?

Yikes. This completely depends on how badly the specimen is damaged, what kind of soot they are covered with, and what the condition of the specimen was before the damage. Stickier soot on old, delicate feathers for example may not be possible to restore, but others have been successfully.
